A celebration for Amersfoort

Come and discover Museum Amersfoort during a festive day for the whole city. On Saturday 17 October, entry is free and there’s plenty to discover and do. Join a speed tour, create your own animal portrait, listen to music, play a traditional Amersfoort game or take a seat in the museum café. Discover the revamped museum and get to know the city and one another.

Discover a city full of stories

Take a journey through the history of Amersfoort in ‘Amorfortia – A City Full of Stories’, from its first inhabitants to the city of today. Works of art, remarkable artefacts and personal stories reveal how people have shaped the city over the centuries.

Join a short speed tour led by city curator Dorine Maat and discover fascinating stories and objects. Or view the city from a different perspective at the multimedia city model.

The new exhibition ‘Adri Pieck – On Her Own Course’ is also on display. During the speed tours, curator Iris Steinmeijer will tell you more about this unconventional artist, her work and her unique view of the world.

See, create and discover

Fancy getting creative yourself? Create an animal portrait inspired by Adri Pieck or draw your own map of Amersfoort. With a special fold-out booklet, you can also go on a treasure hunt through the museum and keep discovering new stories.

Photographer Fernando Rijswijk takes you on a journey through modern-day Amersfoort. In ‘Fernando’s World’, he shows you the Soesterkwartier through his eyes. Throughout the day, you’ll also hear music inspired by stories from the city.

Join us and get to know one another

The celebrations aren’t confined to the exhibition galleries. Play an Amersfoort-themed game together, find out about volunteering at the museum, or simply join us for a drink and a chat.

Even if you’re not visiting the museum, you’re very welcome in the museum café and on the terrace overlooking the Koppelpoort.

And there’s a little gift. While stocks last, you’ll receive a poster of the ‘Night Watch of Amersfoort’: the seventeenth-century View of Amersfoort by Mathias Withoos.

Come along, bring a friend and discover just how many stories Amersfoort has to offer.

Maak Mee Atelier

Is playing just for children? Not at all! Playing may not have a specific goal, but it helps you to stay creative and discover unexpected ideas. In the exhibition, you saw how Carla Kogelman photographs people of all ages while they play. Now it's your turn in the Maak Mee Atelier. Choose a play table and explore on your own or together. Build a crazy tower, create something with clay, or try one of the other activities. Take photos of each other while playing, print your favourite with the small photo printer, and add it to the mini gallery in the Maak Mee Atelier.
