Museum Amersfoort handles your personal data with care. We believe it is important that you know what data we collect, why we do so and what your rights are.

Stichting Amersfoort in C

Stichting Amersfoort in C is the data controller for the personal data described in this privacy statement.

2. What personal data do we process?

We only process personal data that is necessary for the provision of our services. This may include:

  • first name and surname;
  • email address;
  • telephone number;
  • address details (for example, for bookings or invoices);
  • payment details (via our payment provider);
  • data relating to the use of our website;
  • any dietary requirements or accessibility needs, should you choose to share these with us.

We do not process special categories of personal data, unless this is necessary and you have given your consent.

3. Why do we process your data?

We use your data for:

  • processing ticket purchases and bookings;
  • answering enquiries;
  • sending newsletters (if you have subscribed to them);
  • organising activities and events;
  • our administration and compliance with legal obligations;
  • improving our website and services.

We never sell your personal data to third parties.

We process personal data on the basis of one or more of the following legal grounds set out in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • performance of a contract (such as ticket sales or bookings);

4. Ticket sales

When you buy tickets online, payment is processed via a secure payment provider. This provider processes your payment details in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

We only receive the data necessary to process your order. Stichting Amersfoort in C has entered into data processing agreements with our ticketing and payment partners.

5. Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we will use your email address to keep you informed about:

  • exhibitions;
  • activities;
  • events;
  • news from Museum Amersfoort.

You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter.

6. Education

For educational programmes, we only process the personal data necessary to organise an activity properly, such as the contact details of a teacher or supervisor.

Personal data of pupils is only processed when necessary and always in consultation with the school concerned.

7. Photography and video

During exhibitions, activities and events, photographs or video recordings may be taken for use on our website, social media, in newsletters or other communication channels.

In doing so, we take great care to respect visitors’ privacy.

  • We do not take targeted portrait photographs without consent.
  • If you do not wish to be recognisable in any images, please let a member of staff know.
  • For images in which minors are recognisable, we seek permission from a parent or carer.

8. CCTV

CCTV may be in operation in and around Museum Amersfoort for the following purposes:

  • the safety of visitors and staff;
  • the security of the building and the collection.

CCTV is clearly signposted. Footage is only viewed when necessary, for example in the event of an incident, and is not retained for longer than is necessary.

Our website uses cookies to function properly and to gain insight into how the website is used.

We do not retain personal data for longer than necessary.

  • Contact enquiries: up to 1 year.
  • Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe.
  • Financial records: 7 years (statutory retention period).
  • CCTV footage: up to 4 weeks, unless required for the resolution of an incident.

11. Do we share personal data with others?

We only share personal data where necessary for the provision of our services, for example with parties responsible for:

  • website management;
  • ticket sales;
  • payment processing;
  • newsletter software;
  • IT support.

These parties process personal data exclusively on behalf of Stichting Amersfoort in C. Data processing agreements have been concluded with them.

Where personal data is processed outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

12. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • access your personal data;
  • have your data rectified;
  • have your data erased;
  • object to the processing of your data;
  • withdraw consent previously given;
  • have your personal data transferred to another organisation (data portability);
  • lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
