Did you know that you’re welcome to visit the Museum Café and terrace at Museum Amersfoort even if you’re not visiting the museum? Right in the heart of the historic city centre, you’ll find a lovely spot to take a breather, meet up with friends or enjoy a bite to eat and a drink together.
Come and join us for an affordable cup of coffee or tea with a tasty treat. Find a spot at one of the large tables or, weather permitting, take a seat on the terrace. From here, you can look out over the Koppelpoort, one of Amersfoort’s most famous landmarks.
You don’t need to visit an exhibition to pop in. Meet up with colleagues during your lunch break, have a cup of coffee with a friend, or strike up a conversation at the large table with someone you don’t know yet. You’re also welcome to pop in and take a seat whilst out for a stroll through the city.
Feel free to bring your own lunch or picnic. Prefer something from us? Order an affordable cup of coffee or tea with a tasty treat. Or just come and sit down for a while and enjoy the setting and the view.
The museum café and terrace are open to everyone – both museum visitors and locals looking for a lovely spot to meet up.

On 3 October, you’ll have a special opportunity to explore ‘A Closer Look’ alongside photographer Carla Kogelman and curator Dorine Maat. During two guided tours, they’ll take you on a journey through the black-and-white photographs and the personal stories behind them. Carla will talk about her encounters with the people she sometimes followed for years. Dorine will help you see the images and the exhibition in a new light.

Is playing just for children? Not at all! Playing may not have a specific goal, but it helps you to stay creative and discover unexpected ideas. In the exhibition, you saw how Carla Kogelman photographs people of all ages while they play. Now it's your turn in the Maak Mee Atelier. Choose a play table and explore on your own or together. Build a crazy tower, create something with clay, or try one of the other activities. Take photos of each other while playing, print your favourite with the small photo printer, and add it to the mini gallery in the Maak Mee Atelier.
